Jonathan Alder Sensory Garden
Students in the local Jonathan Alder school district developed a sensory garden for the students coming up behind them—a place to spend time and explore the senses. They created the panel designs and secured funding from local companies. Their teachers then reached out to KRDesigns to help turn those designs into physical signs.

The students’ designs, brought into the shop.
KRDesigns worked back and forth on sizing, then CNC routed the student-designed panels in ¾-inch-thick green/tan/green ColorCore. Most panels measured approximately 18 by 20 inches, with one larger panel around 30 by 46 inches.
Built for the students who would follow.
For Mike, the most memorable part was the students’ initiative: developing the idea, creating the designs and finding local support to make the garden possible. The photographs here document the panels in the shop; Mike did not meet the students or see the completed garden.
